The Fine Print:
Descriptions:
I try to provide accurate descriptions, but it’s important to understand that I’m not an expert and my assessments can be off. Information is often derived from internet sources which may not be accurate. I try to list the defects that are hard to see in a scan. I might miss something though, so do zoom in on the scans. Also, measurements may not be exact.
Scans/Photos
: These are the most important part of the description. You need to examine them closely. If you see something you don’t like, there’s a good chance it’s still going to be there when you open the package. Still, it might be just be a scanning artifact or the lighting. The scanner can accentuate color differences making toning and soiling appear significantly more pronounced than they do when the card is in hand. So, if you have a doubt about what you’re seeing, please ask me about it before buying (or not buying).
Definitions:
“Antique” means at least 100 years old (pre 1920), while “Vintage” means at least 50 years old (pre 1970). When an item is described as such, often it's just my considered estimate and should not be taken as an expert assessment. These are frequent search terms and are included for that reason.
Stamps and Postal Markings
: are described somewhat generically to avoid outraged returns. So, assume what’s being offered is the most common variety. I usually include a close-up scan to help you decide, but you’ll have to assign the Scott number yourself.
State Sales Taxes
: ebay will collect and remit your state’s sales tax on your purchase in accordance with applicable state law. My being in tax free New Hampshire won’t save you.
Shipping & Handling Options
: Economy Shipping is sent as a non-machinable 1st class letter in a photo mailer with added cardboard and no tracking. Standard Shipping is sent as a 1st class package, in heaver packaging, with tracking. There's no difference in USPS delivery time. Note: ebay may have dynamically removed the offered 1
st
class package with tracking option from this listing. They say they do this to afford you a better buying experience. From what I can tell, it happens only if you’re relatively close to me in New England. You don’t need tracking on inexpensive cards - If you tell me your card didn’t show up, you get a refund.
Returns:
Free returns within 30 days.
Feedback
: I always leave feedback. Yours is appreciated.
Questions
: I’m happy to answer questions. Asking is always easier and cheaper than having to pack something up and return it. If you see an error in this listing, please let me know. Corrections are welcome.
